Week 1 PiYo Review


Week 1:

PiYo officially hit the scene in June at Summit which is the BIG event for Beachbody Coaches. For the first 2 weeks, only coaches could order this workout program after the launch because it was not released to the general public yet. As coaches we could pass this perk to our challengers so they would be among the first to own and start this program with us. I was blessed that some of the coaches in our team had been asked to participate in the Pilot Test Group and I knew they were getting results, but was amazed when they could post the before and after pics. In 60 days you could see the lean muscle definition, they looked stronger and you could see their confidence. Some posted poses at the start and end of the program and it was amazing to see the flexibility difference.

My PiYo program has arrived....YIPPEE!

We kicked off our PiYo Challenge Group on Monday July 7th and this is scheduled to last for 60 days. I was supper pumped to start because I have never done Yoga or Pilates but the positions looked cool and I thought at least I would become flexible and could get some CRAZY pics.

PiYo comes with a calendar so you know which workout DVD to watch. The first day you watch the fundamentals and you get an understanding of vocabulary, technique and a sense of the trainers and how Chalene Johnson teaches. I was very impressed because I am a beginner and completely green. There are days that you work your upper, then days you work your lower and you even have a day that is called "sweat" and guess what don't let the title trick you....you sweat! But nothing that I can't do as a newbie and each workout has a modifier which is a person that you can watch that does the move or position slightly easier than the others. At any time you can switch to their style during the workout. I loved the camera angles and how you can really get a sense of the correct position so you can mirror it at home. Chalene Johnson was very detailed and encouraging and I felt like she was right there and I was attending one of her classes.

How to determine what foods to eat and your meal plan using the "Get Lean Eating Plan" book

Step 1 - I calculated my calorie target  to determine which plan I needed to follow.

Step 2 - I picked the food plan that matched my calorie target. (I will be using Plan A) The "Get Lean Eating Plan" book maps out the food types and serving sizes you need to follow.

Step 3 - I highlighted the foods in the "Get Lean Eating Plan" book that I prefer.  From here I was able to choose which foods to eat and how much for the week.

I can't wait to see what week 2 will bring! From what I have seen I would recommend PiYo to anyone that has an interest to become a better you, no matter your age or experience level. Whether you are a beginner or advanced, have knee or joint issues, want to lose weight or over become toned.....this program is for YOU!
